Interpreter - Level 1
Academic Learning
Duties: Provide interpreting services in the classroom and in related locations to students with deaf and hard of hearing impairments. Applicants should be skilled in interpreting from spoken English in a lecture or casual format to ASL and/or Signed English AND interpret from sign language to spoken English.
Requirements: Strong interpreting skills for deaf and hard of hearing adults as described above; must demonstrate comprehension of the scope and role of an interpreter; interpreting experience for adults is strongly preferred; must have a working knowledge of adaptive technologies as well as disability law, rehabilitation practice and educational philosophy as applied to students with disabilities; prefer RID or NAD certification; and should demonstrate knowledge of the NAD-RID “Code of Professional Conduct.”
