Newsdesk Editor
University Communications
Duties: The Newsdesk editor is responsible for organizing, managing and editing University Communications projects. Projects include the weekly News & Notes employee newsletter, university news releases, bi-weekly student/employee e-mail updates, brochures, BYU–Idaho magazine and Web content. The editor also must be able to clearly communicate his or her editing comments to staff writers and be able to help writers improve. Working for University Communications requires sensitivity and maturity.
Requirements: This is a professional position. Please only apply if you are skilled and looking for meaningful experience. Juniors or seniors and Communication majors preferred. Applicants must be able to interact professionally. Must be skilled in editing, proofreading, grammar, spelling, and AP and Chicago styles. Having experience editing friends' papers is not sufficient. Must have an eye for detail and be able to find holes in written work. Previous experience in a newsroom or PR office preferred.
Beginning Date: Jan 1, 2010 Approximate Hours/Week: 20
