University Communications Writer/Edtior (full-time)

Duties: Writing - Write press releases, articles for the weekly employee newsletter, and content for brochures and Web sites. Editing - Ability to think through articles and content to find inherent flaws and other errors. Management - Manage and mentor a staff of writers and editors, plan content for the weekly newsletter, distribute/pitch press releases to media outlets. Public Relations - Represent BYU-Idaho to the campus community as well as off-campus audiences.
Requirements: - This position is for a student off-track in Winter 2010 - Prefer junior or senior majoring in Public Relations or Journalism - Strong writing background REQUIRED - Excellent communication skills - Ability to manage several tasks at once and work with limited supervision - Prior experience working in a newsroom or in public relations REQUIRED. (Classroom-only experience does not qualify) - Knowledge of AP style - Web experience helpful - Able to take constructive feedback and learn from it
Beginning Date: Jan 1, 2010 Approximate Hours/Week: 40
Hourly Wage: $7.50 Work Schedule: 8-5 M-F
