Upcoming Learning Model in Action Workshops

Two Learning Model in Action workshops will be offered during the months of May and June in a shortened, two week format.

Getting Groupwork Right will take place on Wednesday May 19th and Wednesday May 26th from 8:00 am to 8:45 am.  Participants will meet both weeks to discuss and practice the do's and don'ts of effective group work.

Defining Course Level Learning Outcomes will be held on Thursday Jun 17th and Thursday June 24th from 8:00 am to 8:45 am.  This workshop will walk participants through a step-by-step process for defining and refining course level outcomes that willlead to better assessments, better lesson plans and better experiences for the students.

Several Learning Model in Action Workshops will also be offered in the run-up to fall semester.  These workshops are open and available to all, but are specifically focused toward newer faculty and adjunct facutly.

August 16th and 17th, there will be all-day workshops on Course Design and Syllabus Creation.  These workshops are not presentations, but are designed so that a faculty member can work through a step-by-step process to design their course for the first time or rework their apprach to an existing course.

On August 30th, there will be a 2 hour workshop on Best Practices in Blackboard.  The focus of this workshop is the organization and presentation of materials on your Blackboard site.  If your site seems more like a file archive than a teaching tool, this is the workshop for you.  After the presentation portion of the workshop, computer technology staff will be on hand for several hours for those who wish to stay and get down to the nitty-gritty.

On September 7th, there will be a 2 hour workshop on Best Practices in Lesson Planning.  This is where the alegorical rubber hits the proverbial road.  Learn the techniques of lesson planning that can keep your classroom focused and lively.
